Shearing Demonstrations

If you’d like to book us for a shearing demonstration please get in touch.  Ian and Mick are highly sought after to provide shearing demonstrations at shows, fetes, community events and media and promotional events. We can supply sheep and equipment, entertain crowds with shearing stories and crowd interaction and generally promote the wool industry and entertain your community or guests. We have provided demonstrations at the Canberra and Sydney Royal Easter Show (annually for the last 11 years), Australia Day events and other high profile media events. Most notable was his recent demonstration for Prince William and his wife Kate at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2014 along with several demonstrations for the Governor-General Dame Quentin Bryce and when she hosted groups of international diplomats.

During the course of these promotional events and as a result of his achievements, Ian has developed excellent media skills and has appeared on television and radio shows on multiple occasions over the years.

International Shearer Training

We have and will continue to provide international shearer training during the Australian winter months. On top of this, we can cater to internationals who want to learn the craft with paid training – get paid to learn alpaca and sheep shearing with the best.

We recently made a trip to the UAE and are willing to travel for shearing training.
For the UAE project, we were requested to undertake some training for local farmhands working for the Crown Prince of  one of the 7 Emirates that make up the UAE. The Crown Prince studied agriculture at university in England and loves animals. He had a collection of a wide variety of animals and a lot of different breeds of sheep and goats. Our job was to teach the local farmhands how to shear the variety of sheep breeds and how to keep their equipment sharp for the job. Our most important consideration was ensuring the sheep were well looked after and that the farmhands learnt as much as they could in the two weeks we were there to help them. It was a great experience for both of us. The locals looked after us very well and were very appreciative of what we were able to teach them. The Crown Prince is breeding his animals and hopes that the UAE might be able to have a sheep, goat and cattle industry in the long term future.
